The Elementary English Learner Roadmap Dual Language Teacher Strand Module 4 (Session 1 of 2)

  • Dates: 17 – 17 Mar, 2022
  • Location: Via Zoom

Dual language educators will engage in the last three of the five learning modules. The English Learner Roadmap Dual Language Teacher Strand focuses on:

  • Classroom practices and instructional strategies
  • Teaching and learning

Modules 3 and 4 will be guided by EL Roadmap Principle #2 where participants will continue to delve into dual language/multilingual pedagogy, including:

  • Understanding dual language program models
  • Creating immersive conditions
  • Strategic language separation

Participants will learn about equalizing the status of two languages, explore content knowledge as a bridge across languages, and learn high-leverage instructional strategies that build comprehension, support active engagement, and intentionally build miltilingual proficiency.

Module 5 will share EL Roadmap Principle #3 and #4 focusing on:

  • Formative assessment
  • Collaborative
  • Reflective teacher practice

Audience: classroom teachers, bilingual/dual language programs, site/local teams of educators, paraprofessionals, COE staff who completed Modules 1-2.
