The California Standards call for a change in instructional practices as we shift our focus to helping students build knowledge, extract & employ evidence, and interact with more complex text. What could this look like in a classroom? This workshop will explore how close, purposeful reading of primary source documents and text can support students with these shifts. Teachers will learn to carefully select documents and texts and help students uncover layers of meaning that lead to deep comprehension. Participants will think critically about their own practice as they engage discussions, simulations, and strategies that could be immediately applied to their classroom.

We encourage you to "BYOD"; and bring your own device with you to all meetings & workshops.

For your convenience. a meal is provided. However, if you have specialized dietary restrictions, please plan to bring your own lunch.
